Hendrik A. Kley was born in 1980 in Essen, Germany. While in school, Hendrik worked as a photographer for city magazines and did his first short films. After high school he worked as a lighting electrician for several television productions.
Between 2001 and 2006 Hendrik studied film and media at the Filmacademy Baden-Wuerttemberg in Ludwigsburg, with focus on camera studies. As a student he spent several weeks at the UCLA in Los Angeles, USA and at the PWSFTiT in Lodz, Poland taking graduate level classes. During his studies he made numerous short films and documentaries as a cameraman. Hendrik also served in various productions as a 2nd camera assistant, gaffer and gripper. He successfully completed his education at the Filmacademy with the German equivalent of a Masters degree in Film and Media Studies.
Since 2006 Hendrik is a freelance cameraman. Among his projects has been his engagement as a second unit cameraman for Dominik Graf and Friedemann Fromm in the television mini-series "Im Angesicht des Verbrechens" and "Weissensee" in Berlin. He has also been working on various documentaries, commercials and corporate films, gathering experiences in countries like the USA, Hong Kong, UK, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Poland, Spain, France, Italy and Belgium.
